Last Friday, the Rich Mountain Bucks men’s and women’s soccer teams hosted National Park College for a pair of soccer contests.
In the women’s match, the Bucks outscored National Park 4-0 in the first half. Remmie Ferla found the back of the net twice in the first half, as Jess Douglas and Morgan Johnson each chipped in one score a piece. In the second half, Ferla scored her third goal of the game in the 50th minute. National Park went on to score their first goal in minute 60, as the Bucks answered five minutes later to win by a final score of 6-1.
Moving on to the men’s matchup, Khalid Hassan scored the only goal of the first half for the Bucks. Lushil Abbia found the back of the net to add on to the Bucks lead 2-0 in the second half. National Park scored in the 57th minute. Jan Lloveras cushioned Rich Mountain’s lead back to two in the 78th minute, and made the final score 3-1 Bucks.
On Tuesday, Rich Mountain hosted Murray State College. Micaela Nunez scored first for the Bucks in the women’s match. Gracie Evans found the back of the net twelve minute later, giving the Bucks a 2-0 lead at the half. In the second period, Rich Mountain continued the shutout and extended their lead, as both Rhiannon Holmes and Remmie Ferla scored a goal a piece. The Rich Mountain women ended up winning 4-0.
In the men’s contest, no goals for scored in the first period of play. The Bucks scored first in the second though, as Antonio Galarzo found the back of the net. Murray State tied the ballgame in the 59th minute, but the Bucks were victorious 2-0 after a goal from Kason Shrum.
The Bucks men’s and women’s teams are set to be back in action on Sept. 26 at Eastern Oklahoma State College.
