The NJCAA announced earlier this week that all close-contact fall sports will be moved to the spring semester. The sports include football, soccer, and court volleyball. According to the NJCAA, Cross Country championship for all divisions will remain as originally scheduled.

Following the news of soccer season being moved to the spring semester, Rich Mountain head soccer coach Brian Byrd noted, “With the situation we are all in, I suppose it is better than cancelling all together.”

Byrd continued, “I feel college soccer gets the short end of the stick a lot. They seem to lower the amount of games while other sports get the same amount, and that really needs to be addressed by the NJCAA.”

In terms of how his team will go about things, Byrd said, “We will adjust, make the best of it, and compete to build on our inaugural year, with hopes of getting to the National Tournament and shocking the nation.”

“The players will have one full semester of the weight room, practice, and a few games to prepare. It will be different, but maybe a new view of things will be refreshing."
