Ladycats stay undefeated; Win over Booneville and Magnolia

The Mena Ladycats senior high volleyball team traveled to Booneville High School on Monday to begin their busy week. The Ladycats matched up with a Booneville squad coached by former Ladycat Bailey Stringer.

Mena had their hands full in the first set, just edging Booneville 25-22. The Ladycats recorded a more comfortable win 25-17 in the second set, but had their work cut out for them to complete the sweep. Booneville stuck right with Mena, however, Mena escaped with a 26-24 set win to complete the match sweep 3-0.

Madi Lyle tallied 36 digs on Monday evening against Boonevillle. Carmen Puckett struck 10 kills on the evening. Grayson Fairless recorded 8 kills and 7 blocks. Emmi Hines contributed with 15 assists in the contest, along with 4 aces while serving.

On Tuesday night, the Ladycats hosted the Magnolia Lady Panthers. Mena got off to a hot start on the night, and won the first set 25-10. Magnolia edged closer in the second set, but the Ladycats were still victorious 25-15. In the third set, the Ladycats completed their second match sweep of the week with a 25-10 set win.

Katie Valdovinos recorded 8 kills agains the Lady Panthers. Emmi Hines led with 10 assists. Bethany Godwin tallied 12 digs, as both Hines and Emma Threlkeld both had two aces.
