Ouachita Little Theatre receives $10K Grant

The Bob Carver Charitable Trust has presented the Ouachita Little Theatre with a $10,000 grant. The money was placed in the building fund and will fund additional improvements to their home, the Lyric Theatre.

The building that now houses Ouachita Little Theatre was originally built as a movie house, The Lyric, in 1923. The Lyric had three other locations, the last of which burned in a fire, on January 27, 1922. The first Lyric opened in Mena on Monday, September 12, 1909. 

After the fire, the building OLT is in now, opened Monday October first, 1923. 

In three years, the OLT will be have its centennial celebration. “We want this centenarian to look her best for the celebration, ” shared OLT members.

The OLT is located at 610 Mena Street.
