From Anna to Annie

Anna Burt, age 11, is no stranger to the stage. Anna recently starred as Annie in Annie, The Musical at the Ouachita Little Theatre during three of the six performances. “I was not familiar with the Annie the Musical before I auditioned, but I have seen the movie. I wanted to play the roll of Annie because I really liked the movie and all of the music,” Burt shared.

“I love to sing and act. I have been acting since I was three years old. I have done a lot of plays since I was three.  I don’t take singing lessons, but I do sing a lot at home.”

When asked about her favorite performance, Burt said “besides Annie, Weeds and Dandelions where I played Hope.”

Burt described Hope as a little girl who’s mom was diagnosed with cancer and is really bright and cheery and makes her mom feel better. According to Burt, she has similar characteristics of Hope.

Burt played Annie on opening night, May 16 and during both Saturday performances. The remaining three performances she played an orphan named Molly.

“I have enjoyed Annie and have made a lot of new friends during the rehearsals. It has been a fun experience,” Burt concluded.
