Two authors hosted by Cossatot River High School

Cossatot River High School students enjoyed a visit from two authors on October 15, 2019, as part of Teen Read Week.  Arkansas authors, Mark Spencer and John T. Wayne discussed their books and the writing process.  Mrs. Beverly Higgin’s Creative Writing class had the opportunity to ask questions while they shared lunch with the authors.  The author visit was made possible with support from Arkansas Humanities Council, Union Bank of Mena, and Southern LP, LLC. Mark Spencer is the author of 12 books including the nonfiction A Haunted Love Story.  His work has received four national awards including the Faulkner Award for Fiction.  John T. Wayne's Gaslight Boys series endeavors to shed light on a subject that is buried in the annals of American history--children who became orphans as a result of the American Civil War.
