Polk County ARCO attends Breakthrough Solutions Workshop

The 2019 Breakthrough Solutions Pre-Conference Workshop was held in Little Rock on June 24.  The Breakthrough Solutions team selected the Arkansas Coalition for the Ouachitas (ARCO) region of Montgomery, Polk, and Scott Counties as the pilot region for the Pre-Conference Workshop.

As the pilot region, these communities will work alongside Breakthrough Partners to identify assets and opportunities for action. The pre-conference work-shop included a tour and community conversation with community leaders to identify assets and possible opportunities before the conference.

At the pre-conference workshop, Breakthrough Solutions partners presented their findings and led small group discussions with workshop participants, using new tools to identify strategies and opportunities in more depth.

Through the partnership, members of ARCO in Action, are working alongside Arkansas community members to identify low hanging fruit—community and economic development strategies that can be immediately implemented in communities. ARCO was also featured as an example of using an eight step community development process.

ARCO in Action team members represent Scott, Polk and Montgomery Counties. Attendees at the conference from Polk County included Gar Eisele, John Vacca, Phillip Wilson, and LeAnn Dilbeck. Sherry Bearty, Polk County Extension Agent.

ARCO of Polk County also attended the 2019 Breakthrough Solutions Conference on June 25 and June 26.

The topic of discussion for the two-day conference was “Creating Connected Communities in the Emerging 21st Century Economy”.
