Train collision claims life of Polk County man

A 62-year-old Polk County resident is dead after the 2009 Peterbilt he was

driving was struck by a train at a railroad crossing at the

intersection of State Highway 375 and Polk Road 48 in New Potter on

Friday, July 9, 2021.

Jerry Price, of Mena, was traveling eastbound on the county road at

7:28 am when he entered into the path of a southbound train

locomotive. The train impacted the front portion of the Peterbilt.

Price was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Polk County

Coroner’s office.

Arkansas State Trooper Michael Summitt worked the accident noted the

weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident.
