Mena woman to face drug charges in Sevier County

On Friday, Aug. 2, Sgt. Greg Davignon and Deputy Chris Wolcott, Jr. were patrolling when they noticed a white Chevy pickup, occupied by Melissa F. Mettie, 32, of Mena, and Robert Castillo, pulling into two different residences, rapidly in an attempt to avoid law enforcement vehicles.

Upon making contact with the vehicle, the officers discovered that neither of the two lived at the residence or knew anyone who did reside there. They also discovered that Mettie had dropped a clear plastic bag that contained a clear and white crystal substance that was believed to be methamphetamine, as well as a cut plastic straw that contained suspected methamphetamine residue.

Mettie was charged with drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance, which are both class D felonies.
