Cossatot Soccer season comes to an end

The Cossatot Eagles and Lady Eagles soccer teams competed in the 3A State Soccer Tournament last week.After receiving the #2 seed from the South, the Lady Eagles matched up against the #3 seed Lisa Academy Lady Jaguars (7-6, 3-2) and were defeated in the first round 4-3. The Lady Eagles wrapped up their season with a record of 6-5 overall, while going 5-3 in conference play. The Cossatot Girls won games over Centerpoint, Danville, Harmony Grove, and Mena.

Going into next season, the Lady Eagles will lose seniors; Natalia Alarcon, Ashlen Gonzalez, Britney Antunez, and Katya Gonzalez.

The Cossatot Boys earned the #3 seed from the South going into State and took on the #2 seed Episcopal Wildcats (11-6, 3-1) in the first round. The Eagles defeated Episcopal 4-3, to advance in the tournament. On Friday, May 10, the Eagles matched up against the #1 seed from the West, Green Forest (16-1-2, 10-0), and were shutout 7-0.

The Eagles end their season with an overall record of 7-8, while winning six of their ten conference games. The Cossatot Boys had wins over Centerpoint, Danville, Harmony Grove, Baptist Prep, and Episcopal.

This season the Eagles have five graduating seniors including; Abel Cecilio, Brandon Marrufo, Hector Hernandez, Miquel Ortiz, and Elmer Delgado.
