Mena Basketball competed in the annual Kameron Hale Invitational Tournament last week at Lake Hamilton High School.
In the Junior Boys bracket, Mena went 0-2, with losses to Benton (31-26) and Arkadelphia (40-36).
Moving on to the Junior Girls bracket, the Jr. Ladycats ended up winning 3rd Place in the tournament. The talented squad won their first game against Benton 34-27, before falling to Bryant 38-27. In the third place contest, Mena defeated Lakeside 30-26.
The Mena Senior Boys team also competed in the tournament and went 0-3. The Bearcats lost to Conway (54-24), Kirby (55-28), and to Centerpoint (47-44) in overtime.
In the Senior Girls bracket, the Mena Ladycats went 1-2. The Ladycats lost to West Side Greers Ferry in their first game 57-34, before defeated Little Rock Hall 74-39 on day two of the tournament. On Saturday, Mena fell to Centerpoint 49-35.
Following the tournament in Lake Hamilton, the Mena Basketball teams returned to regular season action at the beginning of the week. On Monday, the Jr. Bearcats and Ladycats hosted Nashville. The Jr. Ladycats defeated the Scrapperettes 42-33, before the Mena junior boys fell short 36-27.
On Tuesday, the Mena senior high teams made the trip to Centerpoint to take on the Knights. The Ladycats came up short to the Lady Knights 50-35, before the Mena senior boys took home a 46-29 victory. David Grenier led the Bearcats with 26 points.
