BREAKING: Harper moving on

Update: Mena’s DB and Secondary Coach, Macklin Chermak, will also join Harper  with the Coweta Tigers.

According to a source, Mena Bearcat Football Coach Tim Harper is moving on to Coweta, Oklahoma.

Harper took the Mena job for the 2013 season as the Bearcats went 5-5 in the regular season, before falling to Hamburg in the first round of the playoffs.

In 2014, Harper led the Bearcats to their first State Championship Game since 1976, as Mena finished the season at 4A State Runner-Ups with a 48-14 loss to Warren.

Following their State Championship Game appearance, the Bearcats missed the playoffs and went 3-7 in 2015, before going 6-5 in 2016 and falling to Central Arkansas Christian in the first round of the state playoffs.

Harper’s Bearcats went 3-7 in 2017 and lost seven straight games, before Mena recouped and went 8-4 in the 2018 season. After a 31-7 first round playoff win over Gentry, the Bearcats fell to Shiloh Christian in round two.

In Harper's six years as the Bearcats Head Coach, Mena went 37-32 overall while missing the playoffs in only two seasons.
