Lady Tigers ambush Caddo Hills Lady Indians 39-34

The #3 seed Lady Tigers earned their spot in the 1A 7 West Senior Girl’s District Basketball Tournament Finals by defeating the #2 seed Caddo Hills Lady Indians 39-34 Thursday, Feb. 18th at Acorn High School. Acorn High School Head Girls Basketball Coach Mike Jackson’s starters included, #20 Tegan Vann, #21 Tori Barrett, #33 Ashlee Long, #5 Faith Hill, and #42 Morgan Fagan.

The Lady Tigers had a great first period, outscoring the Lady Indians 12-2. Caddo Hills scored their only basket with two-seconds remaining in the period. However, Caddo Hills came alive in the second period to edge Acorn 11-10 to cut the Lady Tiger lead to nine at 22-13 at the half. The third period was an even 11-11 battle to advance the score to 33-24 with eight minutes to play.

In the fourth period, the Lady Indians outscored the Lady Tigers 10-6, including a pair of 3-pointers. However, Acorn held on to take the five-point win posting a 39-34 final score and advance to the Tournament Finals. Hill led the Lady Tigers with 13 points, while Long scored 12 including a pair of 3-pointers.

Barrett and Vann chipped in with six points apiece, while Fagan scored two points. Both the Lady Tigers and the Lady Indians shot 40 percent from the free throw line, with each team making two of five attempts.
