Bucks host NJCAA Division I Region II Championship

The Rich Mountain Bucks Cross Country teams hosted the NJCAA Division I Region II Championship meet on Saturday, October 12, at the Lion’s Club Disc Golf Course. The Bucks competed along side Carl Albert State College, Connors State College, National Park College, and Redlands Community College.

In the women’s 5K race, Marlenne (22:52.1) and Miriam Mendez (23:09.3) finished first for the Bucks in 4th and 5th place. Faith Hill and Shannan Gardner placed 7th and 8th with times of 23:36.4 and 23:55.2. In team scoring, Redlands CC edged the Bucks by two points for the Championship, as Carl Albert finished 3rd.

Jordan Foster won first place and finished first for the Rich Mountain men as usual, with a time of 28:30.3. To complete a perfect score, the Bucks also took the next four places as well. Michael Tenorio (29:49.9) and Cross Hughes (30:04.7) finished 2nd and 3rd, before Asael Sanchez (30:05.2) and Robert McIntyre (30:18.4) placed 4th and 5th. Also running for the Bucks, Osman Flores (31:11.4) 7th, Clint Buck (31:25.8) 8th, Ethan Sanders (32:03.7) 11th, and JP Rojas (32:10.4) 14th.

The Bucks successfully dominated their competition to win the Region II Championship ahead of Redlands CC and Carl Albert.

Rich Mountain Cross Country will be back in action at the Little Rock Open hosted by UALR this Saturday and at the NJCAA National Championship in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 9.
