Lady Eagles fall short in 2A Softball Tournament

After going 1-2 in the 2A South Regional Softball Tournament, with a win over Woodlawn and losses against Horatio and Murfreesboro, the Cossatot Lady Eagles earned the #4 seed from the South Region going into the 2A State Softball Tournament at Mountain Home.

The Lady Eagles matched up against the #1 seed from the Central region, Poyen (28-1, 7-0). Cossatot held a 1-0 lead until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Lady Indians scored two runs and went on to defeat the Lady Eagles 2-0.

Poyen advanced to the second round and defeated McCrory 9-1, before winning over Melbourne 6-2 to advance to the 2A State Softball Finals against Quitmam this weekend.

The Cossatot Lady Eagles ended their season with a record of 9-7, while going 5-2 in conference play. Cossatot won games over Mineral Springs, Caddo Hills, Murfreesboro, Acorn, Gurdon, Dierks, Foreman, and Woodlawn.

Going into next season, the Lady Eagles will lose four seniors; Shanna Johnson, Lauren Driver, Rhyen Martin, and Mackenzie Whinkley.
