Dover, Sandifer, and Smithers joining Bearcat Football Coaching Staff

Mena School District Superintendent Benny Weston announced on Thursday, June 27, that three assistant football coaches have been hired to assist Head Coach Craig Bentley.

Landon Dover, who was hired by Mansfield earlier this year and spent the past season at Camden Fairview, will join the Bearcats as Bentley's Offensive Coordinator. Dover will also be an assistant for the Jr. Bearcats Football Team and will be the Head Sr. Boys Track coach.

Kyle Smithers, from Gravette, is coming to Mena as an assistant coach for the Sr. High and Jr. High Football teams. Additionally, Smithers will take the helm of the Mena Boys Soccer team.

Also joining the Bearcats is Matt Sandifer. Sandifer was previously a coach at Camden Fairview and will join the Bearcats as the new Defensive Coordinator. Sandifer will also assist with Jr. Bearcat Football.

Mena's Superintendent also issued a statement concerning the search for the next Mena Bearcat Basketball Coach. Weston stated, "We are continuing with our search and we are in the process of interviewing candidates. The final round of interviews are underway and we anticipate a decision soon."
