Ladycats Clinch 18th Consecutive State Tournament Berth

The Mena Ladycats (16-3-2; 7-0) senior high volleyball team hosted the Little Rock McClellan Lady Lions (0-10; 0-8) on Thursday evening for a doubleheader. The Ladycats came away with a big win in both games and also clinched their 18th consecutive berth to the State Volleyball Tournament.

In the first game of the afternoon, the Lady Lions were able to score only 17 points combined. Mena went on to win the match 3-0 (25-4, 25-8, 25-5).

Mena was able to showcase some extra talent off of the sideline in game number two. The Ladycats continued their dominance over McClellan and took the match 3-0 (25-10, 25-4, 25-5), to complete the sweep of the doubleheader for Mena.

So far this season, the Ladycats losses have come against Paris, the four-time defending State Champions in 3A, and to 6A powerhouse Hot Springs Lakeside twice.

The Ladycats currently have 7 games remaining on their schedule, before the 4A State Volleyball Tournament begins on October 29 at Morrilton High School.

Next up for Mena Volleyball, Coach Lyle and the Ladycats will travel to Little Rock Mills for a doubleheader on Tuesday, October 8.
