Barracudas continue swimming season

The Mena Barracudas Swim Team traveled to De Queen on Friday, June 28. 

In the 8 & Under Boys Division, Larson Woods placed 4th in the 25 Meter Backstroke, 2nd in the 25 Meter Breaststroke, and 8th in the 25 Meter Freestyle. Nathaniel Fields placed 1st in the 25 Meter Freestyle.

In the 10 & Under Girls Division, Camila Booker placed 3rd in the 50 Meter Backstroke and 5th in the 50 Meter Freestyle.

In the 10 & Under Boys Division, Austin Fields placed 5th in the 50 Meter Backstroke and 4th in the 50 Meter Freestyle. Ayden Dong placed 3rd in the 50 Meter Backstroke, 3rd in the 50 Meter Freestyle, and 2nd in the 100 Meter I.M. Auden Woods placed 2nd in the 50 Meter Backstroke, 2nd in the 50 Meter Breaststroke, and 2nd in the 50 Meter Freestyle. Ryan Jiang placed 1st in the 50 Meter Backstroke, 1st in the 50 Meter Breaststroke, 1st in the 50 Meter Freestyle, and 1st in the 100 Meter I.M.

In the 12 & Under Girls Division, Savannah Levering placed 3rd in the 50 Meter Butterfly, 5th in the 50 Meter Breaststroke, 6th in the 50 Meter Freestyle, and 4th in the 100 Meter I.M. Jaeli Fields placed 1st in the 50 Meter Butterfly, 2nd in the 50 Meter Backstroke, 2nd in the 50 Meter Freestyle, and 3rd in the 100 Meter I.M.

In the 12 & Under Boys Division, Brandon Dong placed 1st in the 50 Meter Backstroke, 1st in the 50 Meter Breaststroke, 1st in the 50 Meter Freestyle, and 1st in the 100 Meter I.M.

In the Senior Girls Division, Tabitha Levering placed 1st in the 100 Meter Butterfly, 1st in the 100 Meter Breaststroke, 2nd in the 100 Meter Freestyle, and 2nd in the 50 Meter Freestyle. Allison Bates placed 2nd in the 100 Meter Breaststroke, 1st in the 100 Meter Backstroke, 1st in the 100 Meter Freestyle, and 1st in the 50 Meter Freestyle.

The Boys 10 & Under Relay team placed 1st, as well as the Boys 12 & under Medley Relay and Freestyle team.

The Girls 12 & Under Freestyle Relay team placed 1st, as did the Senior Girls Freestyle Relay team.

The Mena Barracudas also had two swimmers go to El Dorado on July 6-7 for Junior Olympic Qualifications. Brenden Ricker qualified in the 200 Meter Breaststroke, placing 2nd and 3rd in the 100 Meter Breaststroke. Ricker also placed 4th in the 100 Meter Butterfly, 4th in the 50 Meter Freestyle, 4th in the 200 Meter I.M., and 4th in the 100 Meter Freestyle.

Both swimmers will be heading to North Carolina for the AAU Junior Olympics at the end of the month.

The Barracudas next meet will be at Pine Bluff on Saturday, July 13. On July 19-20, the Barracudas will compete in their respective championship in Warren, Arkansas.
