All three local schools in the area are nearing their last couple games of the basketball regular season.
Last Thursday, Cossatot River traveled to Mount Ida, as the Mena Bearcats and Ladycats took a trip down south to De Queen.
Coach Timms and the Lady Eagles routed the Mount Ida Lady Lions 55-27, before the Cossatot senior boys took a 54-27 defeat.
At De Queen, the Ladycats suffered a 42-28 loss, as the Bearcats picked up conference win number two by a score of 43-41.
Moving on to Friday, Acorn hosted Murfreesboro, while Cossatot River welcomed the Gurdon Go-Devils.
The Lady Tigers captured a fourteen point, 71-57, victory over the Lady Rattlers, as the Acorn senior boys got back on track with a 68-58 win.
At Cossatot River, the Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Go-Devils 57-28, prior to a 48-40 win by Coach Cartwright and the Cossatot River senior boys.
The Mena Jr. High teams were in action on Monday night, as the De Queen Jr. Leopards came to town. The Mena Jr. Ladycats continued their dominance with a 33-18 victory, as Coach Peters and the Jr. Bearcats also took home a win, 44-32.
In an action-packed Tuesday, Mena hosted De Queen, while the Cossatot River Eagles hosted Acorn for some in-county action.
The Mena Ladycats (10-12, 5-4) let go of an early lead and fell to the Lady Leopards 44-39. In the senior boys contest, De Queen shocked the Bearcats (5-14, 2-7) with a twenty-point 58-38 win.
In one of the best games of the season, at Cossatot, after holding a 36-20 halftime lead, the Lady Eagles (19-9, 10-3) fell to Coach Jackson and the Acorn Lady Tigers (24-4, 13-0) 62-60. In the finale of the evening, the Acorn senior boys (19-8, 11-2) handed Cossatot (4-23, 3-10) a 62-37 loss.
Next up, on Thursday, Acorn will host Mount Ida, as Cossatot River travels to Dierks and the Mena Jr. High squads take the trip to Bauxite.
On Friday, Cossatot River is set to travel to Danville, while Mena hosts the Bauxite Miners.
