The Mena Tennis team competed in the 7-4A District Tournament in Arkadelphia on Monday, October 7.
In Girls Doubles action, McKenzie Strother and Madi Linch won their first match 9-7. Marissa Ortiz and Stephanie Lua were victorious in their quarterfinal match 6-0, but lost in the semi-finals. For third place, Ortiz and Lua won the match 4-6, 6-3, and 10-4. Four third place finishers out of the six 4A district will be selected for the 4A State Tournament.
In Boys Doubles play, Luke Montgomery and Brendon Brown lost their first match of the day (2-6, 1-6). Eli Cook and Wilson Hughes won their first match (6-3, 6-1), before falling short to the number one seed in the semi-finals. Cook and Wilson placed 4th overall.
Austin Rose won his opening match (6-4, 6-0) in Boys Singles action. Rose went on to lose in the semi-finals. Will Davis also won his first match (6-0, 6-0), then lost in semi-finals before defeating Austin Rose in the third place match (7-5, 6-1). Davis also awaits the State Committees selection of third place finishers for the 4A State Tournament.
