The Rich Mountain Bucks Cross Country team is scheduled to host their first meet on Friday, August 30, at the Mena Lions Club. In attendance of the meet will be the UA Rich Mountain Bucks, Carl Albert, Redlands Community College, and Connors State.

Coach Samantha Shores has 13 total runners this year, with only four of those athletes on the women's team. Faith Hill, Marlenne Mendez, and Miriam Mendez are all beginning their second seasons with the team, as newcomer Shannan Gardner joins the team for her first year.

On the men's team, Cross Hughes and Mikey Tenorio are the only returning runners, as Jordan Foster, Clint Buck, Asael Sanchez, Osman Flores, Robert McIntyre, JP Rojas, and Ethan Sanders all join the team.

"I expect big things," said Coach Shores on the upcoming season.

"They are a group that is tight knit together, so you can expect them to cross the finish line right next to each other," noted Shores on her men's team.

On the women's squad, Shores noted, "My women are fierce. They are probably the toughest group of young ladies that I have ever met."

The Bucks first meet on Friday at the Lions Club is set to begin at 6:00pm.
